The Prague Philharmonia is one of Europe’s most respected and dynamic ensembles, impeccable in its readings of Classical and Romantic repertoire, and is widely loved for its ravishing sound and irresistible stage presence. On this occasion it performs Beethoven's Coriolan Overture; Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major, featuring soloist Blake Pouliot; Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, with pianist Andrew von Oeyen; and Dvořák's joyfully poetic Symphony No. 8.
The Prague Philharmonia was founded in 1994 on the initiative of the conductor Jiří Bělohlávek (1946-2017) under the original name Prague Chamber Philharmonia. Today it is one of the most recognized orchestras, not only among Czech but also world ensembles. Regular invitations to tour abroad as well as recording projects with the most renowned international labels bear testimony to this. Since the 2015–16 season the orchestra has been led by conductor Emmanuel Villaume.
French-born conductor Emmanuel Villaume has led captivating performances with the most prominent opera companies and symphony orchestras around the world. Since the 2015–2016 season he has been Chief Conductor of the PKF – Prague Philharmonia.
Acclaimed internationally for his insightful artistry and brilliant technique, Andrew von Oeyen has established himself as one of the most captivating pianists of his generation. Since his debut at age 16 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Esa-Pekka Salonen, he has performed a diverse repertoire of concertos and solo works at leading music venues around the globe. A recording artist for Warner Classics, Mr. von Oeyen divides his time between Paris and Malibu.
Winner of the Grand Prize at the 2016 Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal Manulife Competition, Blake Pouliot’s 2023/24 symphonic highlights include Shostakovich 1, Bruch 1, Tchaikovsky, Korngold and Sibelius concerti across the US and Canada with Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal with Roderick Cox, Artis-Naples and NAC Ottawa with Alexander Shelley, Quebec City Symphony and Clemens Schuldt amongst others.
The 2026 US tour and performances by the Prague Philharmonia have been made possible by the generous support of the Fisher Koch Family Foundation.
